Making Your Own Lactose Free Ice Cream

There are a lot of people who are lactose intolerant, they make up about 70% of the world's population. This is one of the reasons why a lot of businessmen and manufacturers are thinking of ways that they can provide these people with the opportunity to enjoy foods that they usually avoid without the risk of experiencing the symptoms of lactose intolerance. But let us first know what lactose intolerance is. It's a kind of deficiency wherein the there is insufficient to no production of lactase. Since lactase is the one that helps to break down lactose, commonly found in sugar in milk, absence of lactase would mean that lactose will not be absorbed properly by the body. Once this happens, taking milk will produce symptoms of lactose intolerance.

Normally, people that are lactose intolerant try not to take milk and other products containing milk. But they have the option to consume milk but they have to make sure that it is lactose-free. Lactose free products give opportunities for lactose intolerant individuals to be able to enjoy foods that they normally avoid in order to avoid experiencing the symptoms of intolerance.

One of the most common ingredients in desserts is milk because of its creamy texture sweetness and it also possesses the ability to add flavor to the prepared food. But, since milk contains lactose, not everyone can enjoy it. Milk is also a main ingredient in one of the most popular desserts in the world which is the ice cream. Before, people that are lactose-intolerant are not able to enjoy ice cream very much due to their digestive condition, but with the advent of technology, lactose intolerant individuals will not be able to enjoy eating ice cream that is made up of lactose free ingredients. Here is one example of a lactose-free ice cream recipe:

cup of apple strawberry juice (you can change this depending on the kind of juice or flavor you want), 2/3 cup of all fruit jam, 3 cups of vanilla soy milk, a teaspoon of vanilla and 2 teaspoon of gelatin(preferably kosher) are the ingredients for the lactose free ice cream that we are going to make.

We have to prepare the apple strawberry-juice first and then sprinkle the gelatin over it. While occasionally stirring the mixture, let it sit for 10m minutes until it has completely dissolved and softened. After that, you can now whisk together the soy milk and strawberry jam in a medium saucepan. Make sure to stir it from time to time and let it cook until it is slightly hot and then you can remove it from the heat. Making sure that the strawberry mixture is still slightly hot, add the softened gelatin mixture and stir them together until gelatin is dissolved completely. Add the vanilla and let the mixture cool down. Finally, use a spoon to spoon the chilled mixture and put in an ice cream maker. Check the manual of your ice cream maker to make sure that you will know what equipment is needed and how long it would take before your ice cream is done. Once you have completed cooking you ice cream recipe, you can then indulge and enjoy eating without worrying of the symptoms of lactose intolerance.
