Make Fun Party Favors With Wedding Popcorn

By Lana Bray

Planning reception parties with just the right theme and party favors is never easy, especially for couples trying to save money. Party favors are not cheap. Some couples are skipping traditional dinners and just focusing on parties, favors and drinks. One extremely economical and creative favor idea is wedding popcorn.

While many are used to the buttery version, there are many sweet treat recipes. There are also many presentation ideas to make this an extremely fun and classy way to present your guests with customized stylish treats. This party favor will welcome your guests in special way.

Popcorn can be purchased through companies specializing in wedding favors, or brides can order their own and put their own display together. Even at that, gourmet popcorn can be expensive. Making gourmet popcorn, and putting together your own popcorn bar, however, is not only cost effective, but it allows brides to select their favorite recipes, and personalize boxes, and displays.

Plan the party and decide on flavors and recipes. Incorporating the help of others, such as bridesmaids would be a good choice. This will allow for time saving and exchange of ideas.

There are a multitude of gourmet recipes, that include Carmel balls, mixes with candy covered white nuts, m & m, mini chocolate kisses, or mini dark or white chocolate covered pretzels. There is also sour cream, spicy, spicy hot, cheesy, but choosing the types that are perfect for themes is a must. For instance if the dress is frilly and white, with classic colors, vintage or fantasy based, white chocolate mixes and candy treats, along with Carmel or strawberry, vanilla, or other such flavors.

Other themes might suggest different choices for the bar. For instance, if it is an Asian or Hawaiian, or even rock star theme, choosing spicy or fruity might be a better option. Tailor your bar to the mood being created. The display is equally as important. One important thing to consider is if the bar will be offered in buffet style.

Ordering packaging online is both easy and cost effective. It can also be found in some bridal shops, party shops, and restaurant stores. Many different styles of packaging exist as well. Purchasing wedding oriented bags with a thank you on the outside, with a lacy bag inside that contains a party mix, tied by a ribbon might set a particular mood as well as act as a gift for each guest.

Other ideas are champagne glasses placed on silver serving trays at the bar in festive wedding snack cups. The champagne glass will later be used to drink champagne. If looking for elegance use Apothecary jars. This also works for candy bars.

Personalizing the display is also possible, with festive bags that display words such as, "welcome to our special day." Other slogans are, "thank you for being part of our wedding day." This would be accompanied by a picture of the couple, and their names on the wedding popcorn bag. No matter how brides choose to display, creating a bar such as this allows for personal style and character.
