Farming Organic Vegetables Possibly Taking Things Portable

By Rob Sutter

The job of farming organic vegetables, or any for the matter, is something that can potentially bring many images to mind. Some may think of lush green environments while others will think of terrain that will continually go on for acres upon acres. I believe that these farming measures are not going to go away because they are the ones which have been proven the most. What has just come down the pipeline, though, is portable farming which may wind up producing some fruitful results.

Before talking about this story in general, I think it's worth noting the benefits that can come from farming on a casual scale. Those who engage in farming will be able to reap the rewards of their efforts for a number of reasons. It's clear that they will eat healthier, considering that they have grown their own produce which hasn't been riddled with pesticides. Another reason is that many people find farming to be therapeutic, not unlike yoga to name one example, which contributes to healthier living.

According to an article on South China Morning, it seems like a number of Chinese cities have been discussing an increase in portable farming. For those who have invested copious amounts of time into organic vegetables, I can see this story bringing about a number of results. It's clear that fresh produce has become an attractive item recently, seeing as how health has been regarded much more highly than possibly ever before. Networks like Colle's Farmers Market may benefit from this idea of portability, too.

With this level of farming potentially becoming greater, it's good to see that residents of Hong Kong, in particular, have taken the initiative. The article detailed that the population was starting to farm more in other areas like industrial buildings and various rooftops. Seeing as how the farming has spread to such far reaches, I think it is very telling. It shows that the influence has the potential to expand to immense degrees and I'm not sure that anyone will wonder why it happened.

Those who live within cities may have the urge to farm organic vegetables but they don't have the space to do so. These are highly packed areas, after all; this means that the necessary measures to cultivate crops may not be taken on. However, portable farming has shown that there is a way for people living urban areas to benefit greatly from the most organic items. It just takes a little bit of ingenuity in addition to time in order for the optimal produce to come about.
