New York City is legendary for it's countless diners, famous sights and unending energy. If you're on the lookout for an alternative place to meet, drink and be merry and catch a tiny succulent bite to eat, try some wine bars in New York City. You can't get it wrong with any of these places; you get a top-class choice of great wines, food pairings and the perfect enviroment.

AYZA Wine and Chocolate Bar

Considered one of the most romantic Long Island bars in the town and by NY City hotel guide, AYZA Wine and Chocolate Bar is for those looking for a unique and fun wine experience. Don?t let the name fool you; though wine and delectable chocolates are their most noted pairings, they have a great menu of tiny plates electrified by the French Riviera. With an extensive wine list and fine French cuisine AYZA Wine and Chocolate Bar sets the right ambiance for a special time.

'Inoteca

For an intensive Italian wine list and perfect tiny plates of Italian food, 'Inoteca means that. Part of the Inoteca Corsino, 'ino and Liquori group of diners, this popular Italian wine bar and trattoria is located on Lower East Side of the city. Locals and Italian wine enthusiasts head to this location renowned for their great paninis, seasonal antipasti, imported formaggio and complete Italian wine selection of over 600 decisions to select from, are served late into the early morning. The atmosphere is a mixture of warm country Tuscan charm.

Terroir

If you would like an education or need a sommelier that knows what he's talking about without intimidating you, than look no further than Terroir. Known as one of the best wine bars in New York City, with its super well informed staff (who treat you with respect in any case if your not a wine backer), you get restaurant-caliber small plates of food. At Terroir, they've a policy of letting you taste anything on their "by the glass" list before you try it. Always busy and a smaller version of it's sister diner in Tribeca, this East Village bar has turned into a must go-to for wine buffs.

8th Street Wine Bar

For a small diverse list of boutique wines, 8th Street Wine Bar is the place to go. It offers chic, easy decor and mouth-watering little plates of cheese, meat, oysters and their preferred menu item "pig's in blankets". Their staff is wonderful , informed and the service is great. This Greenwich Village wine bar has an inexpensive Cheap Cocktails Hour of $18 bottles, so it gets crowded but is certainly worth the wait to get in.

Morrell Wine Bar & Caf

This Rockefeller Center New York bar is not just for after-work, business types , but for all who like to eat at a place that gives you tasty food, sound service and first-rate wines. Morrell Wine Bar & Caf has an unpretentious staff that knows their wines and the perfect pairing with your food. Also , enjoy views of folk skating by having your wine outside on their patio.
