Why Cooking With Cast Iron Pans Should Be Amazing!

By Priscila Deberry

If you and I are anything alike, then you most definitely were raised preparing and eating meals made from a pot or skillet lined with a teflon lining. Today almost every pan is made this way. They are coated with a teflon lining to keep our food from sticking to the surface. You need to be super careful with pans coated with teflon, and you should not use wire spoons on pans coated with teflon or the pans will get scratched. I am positive you totally have experienced what I am telling you.

Yet this was not consistently how things were. Men and women used to cook in cast iron pans. Teflon didn't happen to be around previously, and men and women had to have something durable that could be around for quite awhile. Families needed to have something that was created only one time, and put to use for everything. And cast iron was the preferred pan of choice.

These pans were very sturdy and could take almost everything, from extreme heat to intense cold, to even being knocked on the ground. Before modern technology people used these types of pans. Cast iron pans often endured 45 years and were passed down from your grandparents.

Still somewhere during this time, a lot of people let go of our affection for cast iron. A pan a lot more handy appeared and people did away with cast iron pans. Now most people make use of low quality cookware that are not well made, that can be washed easily. That is because this type of pan requires a small amount of extra effort. Yet if you put in that additional extra effort, the rewards are very worth it.

This doesn't mean that everyone has stopped cooking with these pans totally. I personally cook with cast iron quite often, and they are really beginning to stage a huge resurgence. And that is because a lot of people have begun to realize the benefits.

Let me tell you a few of the qualities that make cast iron cooking great:

First, meals cooked in a cast iron pan really taste fantastic. The food tastes a whole lot more delicious than the things that you create in a usual teflon pan. The reason is because of what is commonly referred to as the seasoning. This seasoning is created from not ever washing with detergent to the pans surface, and preserving the tastes that come from the food you cook. The pans aromas stay sealed in the pan, and after some time begin to generate savory, robust tastes in the food you cook.

Second, cast iron pans are automatically non stick if you treat them correctly. Cast iron pans don't have to have teflon or any man made chemical to prevent the food from sticking. That is because right after every time you use it, you coat the pan with a very slight layer of cooking grease. The grease aids to lock in the seasoning and establish a sweet surface that won't stick. After a little while, the seasoned surface remains long lasting.

And lastly, you are able to create almost anything with these pans. You are able to saute vegetables on the burner, prepare meat, or even bake the pan in the oven. Cast iron pans are super adaptable. Quite often I simply put my pan right on the stove so that I'm able to bake with my pan anytime I want.

As I previously stated, cooking with cast iron has so many positives. I didn't totally address all of them in this article. Yet if you might be thinking about acquiring one, I completely recommend it. It is a really good addition and will really benefit your cooking. Also, cast iron pans will last a lifetime. I really hope that a lot more families will get back to cooking with cast iron pans like they did in the past.
