Stainless Steel Wall Ovens Are Quite Popular

By Angela Price

The use today, of stainless steel wall ovens has become extremely widespread. They save a good deal of room, and look very modern and up to date. Available in Gas, electric or convection and single, single-double and double ovens, these can be added to most kitchen layouts without much difficulty. They can even be combined with microwave ovens.

The wall-mounted units do not have cook tops. This means that designers of kitchens need to keep this in mind, and cook tops need to be added somewhere else in the kitchen. This does not need to be a drawback as more cupboard space can be provided under the cook top, and you can have a gas cook top and an electric cooker.

Installing the wall-units at a higher level than a traditional range, makes cooking much easier on your back. There is not nearly as much bending over. Compact units of 24 to 27 inches are available for smaller installations, but it is the standard size of 30 inches wide, which is most popular. Compact units are less expensive.

Cooks and Chiefs argue over what it the best medium for cooking. Most feel that for cook tops gas is best but for backing, electric is best. Wall-cooking units come in both gas and electric, and they can also be found in convection ovens as well. Installing a wall cooking unit, allows the chief to have both facilities, gas for the separate cook top and electric for the cooker itself.

Now you need to decide whether to purchase a double or single walls mounted cooker. Single-wall units have one heat control for the entire oven, and that oven has one door. These are a nice size for the average kitchen and can be excellent for a small family. On the other hand, if you do a good deal of family cooking, or just a good deal of cooking and baking in general, it might be better to go with a single-double unit.

The single-double option is actually a single unit split into two separate cooking spaces. It is the same size and has the same capacity as the single oven, but because it is split into two, cooks can cook at two different temperatures at the same time. Double units are two full sized ovens, with completely separate cooking facilities. These do tend to take up more room.

Microwaves have become an absolute necessity in todays kitchens. Most take up a huge amount of space, considering their cooking area. If the kitchen design includes wall-mounted traditional cookers then it is easy to add the microwave to the same bank. This will centralize the cooking features, and leave plenty of free counter space to work with.

In summary, stainless steel wall ovens are an excellent alternative to a kitchen design. They are available in gas and electric, come as single, single-double, or double models, and can even be combined with a Microwave. Their space saving and cook area condensing, make them excellent for smaller kitchen designs.
